Fairport United Methodist Women
"The Unit"
All UMW gather several times a year fir a variety of experiences. The very nature of these intergenerational experiences help to strengthen and unite the entire membership through education, fellowship, service and worship.
In the spring and fall, UMW organizes the Rummage Sales, which provide funds to help support the budget and donations to missions and charities. UMW has coordinated other projects that support its purpose:
"The Circles"
All the circles provide friendship and fellowship and welcome new members. You can be a UMW member without being a member of a circle. All women are welcome to any and all UMW functions regardless of their membership status.
Rebekkah Circle
Rebekkah Circle meets the second Monday of the month from 9:30 to 11:15 AM at church with babysitting provided. The group usually consists of moms with young children, but is definitely open to anyone who is interested. The only requirement is the desire to make new friends and the willingness to share the joys and difficulties that go along with being a woman in a God-centered world. Typical circle events have been making gingerbread houses for St. John’s Home, visiting a nursing home to do crafts and inviting speakers to discuss topics as varied as keeping the faith in the home, dealing with stress and preparing your child for school. Roundtable dissections are always a favorite as well as our annual cookie exchange and spring brunch. We are also host to the annual Books and Brunch which brings together woman of all ages to discuss books and share a meal! Rebekkah Circle may best be known for making everyone’s holiday planning a little easier with their annual apple pie baking fundraised.
