Kelly Spahr, Youth Ministries Coordinator
Kelly likes kids, dogs, cats, coffee, music, spring, summer and fall. She doesn’t like the cold, but she does like snow. She doesn’t like to cook, but does like food. She has four children ranging from adult to middle school and lives in the diverse South Wedge neighborhood of Rochester where there are a lot of coffee shops, hair salons and homeless folks. Kelly has lived with all kinds of animals – dogs, cats, guinea pigs, chickens, lizards, snakes, rabbits and hamsters. She is content with her current pet population of one dog, one cat and two middle school children. She has been working in social services since high school; serving homeless youth, families affected by domestic violence, and as a journalist focused on family issues and politics. Since beginning her family, Kelly has worked almost exclusively in religious education and ministry. She has a BA in Communications from SUNY and an M.Div from Meadville Lombard Theological School. She is also a chaplain at Rochester General Hospital and with the Rochester Police Department and is deeply called to the ministry of pastoral care and ethics.

Joy’s primary focus includes Sunday morning Sunday school and Nursery Care, Sunday morning worship activities for children, monthly Family Fun Events and Vacation Bible School.
Joy has a degree in Elementary Education from Alfred University and her Master’s in Education from Bowie State University. Working with children has always been a part of Joy’s life. She has taught swim lessons during the summer, taught 2nd and 3rd grade, tutored math for elementary through high schollers and taught Sunday School with her husband.
Joy and her husband, Eric, have three children, a dog and a gecko. Two children attend Penfield Schools and the oldest attends Clarkson University. Some of Joy’s favorite things to do are listening to country music, cooking and baking, sewing and enjoying time with her family. An additional passion of Joy’s is food allergy education. Her oldest child has a severe food allergy and, in 2004, she co-founded FACTS, a Rochester area food allergy support group which supports families who are raising food allergic children.

While some of the sermons are complete texts, others are outlines or mere notes. We do not spend a lot of time sprucing them up for this site. Ted would be pleased if you find them helpful. If you should wish to use the content in your own preaching or writing, he would appreciate knowing your plans to do so. He would object to your making commercial use of them without prior permission.
